Crafting a New Skill at 30-something

Developing a new skills isn’t easy at any age, especially after you crafted one skills to realize that its not going to pay the rent… so here I am. I am in my early 30s, and I am learning how to do website design… did I mention the part where I have to ask my husband for help to do the simplest things on the computer and phone?!  Oh yeah, this should be fun.

Everyday I have done a little bit, and it feels good. One week down, many more to go!  My job is super stressful right now and I am transitioning out of yet another job. Fingers-crossed to finding sane people to work with here in Portland!

In a way I feel excited, like I’m on a first date, but then the drudgery of the relationship will set in, and it will take work (and therapy) to get to a point where I enjoy the marriage to my new skill! Where the effort, the tears (there will be many I’m sure) will show through in my work. I want to enjoy the journey and not just wish it to be over, the days may be long, but the years fly by…
